Meet the Midwives

Sharon A. Mullen, CNM
Sharon received her midwifery education from Columbia University in 1985. She is Board Certified in midwifery by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Prior to that, Sharon worked for twelve years as a staff and charge nurse in labor and delivery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She has also worked as a childbirth educator and adolescent health provider.

Colleen N. Ryfa, CNM, MSN
Colleen finished her degree in nursing at Curry College and received her master's degree in midwifery at the University of Rhode Island. She comes to us after having a very active private practice at Metrowest Medical Center. Her interests include teen issues, well-woman care, and empowering women to make their own choices in birth.

Adrienne O'Connell, MSN, CNM, WHNP
Adrienne brings her enthusiastic energy and strong belief in birth to her practice as a midwife. She encourages and supports families as they prepare for this amazing experience. She received her Nurse Practitioner's degree in Women's Heath from MGH Institute of Health Professions. Following that she pursued her midwifery education at the University of Colorado, Denver. Adrienne worked as a labor and delivery nurse at a hospital that had a strong midwifery presence. When not working, you can find Adrienne hiking, skiing, cooking, or near the ocean.

Esther Hausman, MSN, MPH, CNM
Esther brings with her a past filled with rich and diverse experiences. She has taught childbirth education for over two decades and is a certified Birthing from Within mentor. She loves to help couples prepare for labor, birth and parenting. Esther received her midwifery certification and Masters in Public Health from Boston University. She believes that educating women about their bodies empowers them to make healthier choices. When Esther is not working, she is busy with her two children and husband of 30 years. Ask her about her 2nd birth; it's a great story.
